In 2021 the Stephens opened their first Pur Noire Urban Winery & Tasting Room in Houston and removed the Pur Noire brand of wines from nearly all retailers to make them exclusively available direct to consumer. Shortly thereafter, they begin receiving inquiries as to whether they intended to create more wines for stores, bars, and restaurants. Although at the time, the Stephens were focused on growing the reputation of the premium Pur Noire brand, they knew that a financially accessible second label of wines would help them in their ultimate mission of building a community of wine enthusiasts by introducing more people to the beautiful world of wine. 

 

  In 2023, after having produced five vintages of award winning and 90+ point wines under the Pur Noire label, and after renewed inquiries from a large retailer, the Stephens decided that the time was right to launch Erion Wines. Erion supports the company's mission by providing approachable and financially accessible wines that can serve as introductory wines for new wine drinkers or everyday affordable options for more casual wine drinkers. The grapes are sourced from lesser known wine regions in California and vineyards that still meet Pur Noire's quality standards.

In case you were curious, Erion is "Noire" spelled backwards. It is an ode to the brand's principal label and  a reminder that the brand is associated with the award winning Pur Noire Portfolio.
